Two Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.
A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.
Police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
